STEM Field Trips!
Did you know that Cal Skate offers an educational field trip program that immerses students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)?
Our STEM concepts are related to roller skating, where students will learn that STEM is all around them, it is not just a concept found in the classroom or a science lab. Learn more below.
K-6th Grades: We have 3 GREAT lesson plans to pick from, catered to the average grade level of each group attending:
Newtons Three Laws of Motion
Light & Sound
Heart Health
After the lesson, students will participate in 90 minutes of the physical fitness activity of roller skating. We will offer a short skating lesson to get them rolling and if more help is still needed, we have skate mates available to help support their balance and provide them a positive skating experience. Students will burn up to 750 calories in just 90 minutes of roller skating.
- STEM Field Trips require a minimum of 40 students. We recommend a maximum of 120 students.
- The cost is $15 per student which includes admission, one hour of STEM education, and 90 minutes of skating.
- The skating time includes a short skating lesson, skate rentals, and up to 20 skate mates as needed.
- The snack bar can be opened to provide lunch options upon request.
- Our Field Trips are offered Mondays – Thursdays before 2pm.

PRO TIP: Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) offers a Field Trip Program for local students and educators. Cal Skate is walking distance from the Rohnert Park SMART Station. Students ride free and adults pay regular fare. Click below to learn more and book SMART.
About Cal Skate
Cal Skate of Rohnert Park is a locally owned family-run roller skating rink providing all ages entertainment in the friendly city of Rohnert Park! We offer group skating classes, private skating lessons, and proudly host the Redwood Empire Artistic Skating Club, North Coast Inline Racing, and North Bay Roller Derby. We have all ages open skate times, weekly adult skate nights, monthly events and are a birthday party and STEM Field Trip destination. We are invested in our community, raising $36,000 annually for local non-profit organizations and schools with our Skate & Donate Fundraisers. Discounted group rates are also available for school groups, licensed day cares and camps with https://www.calskate.com/private-skating/reservations. Our schedule fluctuates seasonally, expanding our weekday hours during school holidays and breaks and is updated regularly at calskate.com.
